    Default CIM Module

My 04 2.0T Vectra developed a 'crinkly' sound when turning the steering wheel. This also appeared simultaneously with the volume controls not working from the wheel. Vauxhall advised that it would cost somewhere in the region of £700 for parts and labour which is taking the micky.

Can anyone recommend an alternative solution? Perhaps someone who can service the CIM's? Or a non dealer that could do the job cheaper?

    Thanks and regards,

    Phil

You need the iDent letters on the cim behind the steering wheel to match the replacement. U need to remove the steering wheel and you will see a 2 letter combination ie XU on the Cim. The repalcement one needs to ahve been tech2'd out of the donor car I think but I will check this.

If you can get the iDent numbers I can see if I can get a cim for u

Thats way over! Which dealer mate? Bet it was the one near Costco? Dixons (now Evans) in Horsforth quoted me £350- £400 to fit new cim inc parts labour and Tech 2.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm not sure how to go about taking the wheel off Merikiito, is it easy?

It was Nidd Vale in Wetherby. Not the best service I'll be honest. It was about £400 for the parts, plus at least £200 labour.

Is it always a complete replacement? Or can you sort of just swap out the contacts?

Thanks again for all your help.
