Default Headlight alignment and VX dealer trouble

Right put in my VX Xenons in the other week and dropped the car off to get the headlights aligned at VX and get the handbrake recall done at the same time.

Told them to check that the headlights were set for RHD as they were new when I got them from rorycarz on the forum. If they had any problems told them to call me.

Anyways called me and told me all done.

First night out in the dark and.....................

Yep set for LHD! T it s

Headligts set so low they would not light up a cars number plate in front of me.

so back to VX today to get them to check them. Stood over them while they tested them. They decide they are not right but dont know why. So I ended up taking the back cover off the full beams and adjusting the lever myself to change them to RHD. VX lads say "never knew you could do that". "That explains why the beam is a strange pattern then" says the guy who did the alignment the first time round

So he adjusts the headlights up to the maximum that he can and off I go only to realise half way down the road that..........

I have just paid for a job that I did mostly myself! Time for a refund I think when I am passing next

I've seen a few threads thats mentioned the change over lever for the lights conversion RHD/LHD.
Am I correct in assuming the changeover levers were only fitted on earlier models. IOW the new facelift vec-c' dont have them do they???

Would be great for me if they did, but cant say I noticed anything like a lever when I replaced all the front bulbs recently.

Ok just been out and checked my orginal SRi headlights and there is no sign of a lever in them. It seems it must only be in the VX Xenons that there is a lever. I do know that the copies of the SRi lights (Depo ones) have some sort of lever as I had these on my old Vectra C Saloon which are now on Bigmacs car via his brothers car lol. This only applies to the Pre Facelift versions, i have no idea about the facelift lights.

My old pre facelift SRi certainly had levers in the lights.

Had it down to a fine art!

Nope. Only if you have Xenons can you do a LHD/RHD switchover by adjusting a fuse position, or with AFL you do it through a procedure on the indicator stalk.

Not just Xenons, the levers are on the bog-standard Halogen lights as well.

Shame they are not on the Vec C facelifts, would have saved me a load of hasstle as I'm over there quite often.

The stick-on EuroLites tend to leave a right mess behind when you remove them, so what I do now is to re-use the same ones rather than keep buying a new set everytime I go over.

All the original glue has now gone from mine, but you can buy packs of clear silicone gel glue dabs, which look like those glue gel dabs that hold the Aluminum Tax disc mounts to the windsreen, they are like a tacky clear gel, I just put a couple of those Gel dabs on the Eurolites and they do the job brilliantly, and they come of cleanly too with no damage to the plastic lens. Also good as replacement gel pads for the tax disc holder of course. Most stationers will sell them.

    A bit like clear bluetac.
