    Default Changing info display question?

    Hi all,

My info display is scratched and i'm looking to swop it over.

Can they be just unplugged and swopped over or is there more to it. I can see you might have to check connection type but is there a difference between full canbus or half canbus.

    Thanks

    Jon

Old one Tech2'd out and new one in i'd say and would be difference if it was half of full canbus, but sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong......

How bad is the scratch, could you not polish it out???

Hi, I have just changed over my display from the dot matrix to the monochrome graphic display. I changed this over as I upgraded my radio from CD30 to CDC40 and I bought the radio with the screen. I then had to get the screen tech2'd as it wasn't showing the trip computer, within a few seconds on tech2 the screen functioned the way it was supposed to. I think the radio and screen that I bought must have came from a Design model without the trip computer and it fitted my SRi after being reprogrammed to suit the trip computer. As far as I know all the connections are the same on the back of the display. Hope this is useful to you.

    Thanks guys,

I have tried to polish it out but to no avail

Unless someone can recomend a plastic polish.

I have tried with t-cut and Autosolve but not done anything. Yet the scratches are fine and you can't feel them with your nail!

Tcut is no good for that matey, (makes it worse) when I saw your posting I tried to find a small tube of specialised scratch remover to recall the name of it. Caravan dealers sell a scratch remover for removing scratches from the fragile double glazed acrylic windows on caravans. It comes in a small yellow tube like a small toothpast tube and it works very well indeed. I had loads of scratches caused by overhanging tree branches, and no kidding this stuff does work in removing and even on deeper scratches it makes them far less noticable. Most of the products leave like a blooming effect on the plastic which IMO can be worse than the original scratches, but this product does not, its what the dealers use themselves. I was very impressed with the results on my van.
I'll see if I can find it out and get the name for you.
