Default New seat base – no seatbelt warning light

A few weeks ago, I had the driver’s seat base replaced under warranty.

Since then, the seatbelt warning light no longer works. Now, I don’t really need the warning light to tell me to put the seatbelt on, but I am a bit ‘niggled’ that something did work but now doesn’t.

The dealers then had the car for a day but couldn’t work out why the light no longer worked. They have now come up with the lame excuse of ‘the seatbelt warning light isn’t applicable with the new seat base’ – sounds like baloney to me.

    Any opinions ?

i know that seems an obvious starting point - but they had the car for a full day just trying to sort this one problem out. I would have hoped they would have checked something so obvious. I am wondering whether they have perhaps fitted a wrong seat base or something ?

They stopped enabling the seat belt chime at the factory around the time that my car was built. Mine doesn't do it.

Perhaps the dealer had to disable the seat belt chime to do the work using Tech2, and then haven't re-enabled it.

Perhaps give them a ring to check.

I've just had a Mondeo on hire and my wife has a habit of not putting her seatbelt on straight away (slap wrists, I know ).

IMO, The seat belt chime did my head in!!!!!

My brother-in-laws 52 plate Vectra had the chime and he disliked it too!

My 07 and 08 Vectras don't chime for the seatbelt anymore, so it could be true. I quite like the fact that it doesn't chime

Earlier cars had a sensor pad attached to the seat pad foam. It detects when there is pressure on it and the car is moving thus giving you the chime if your seat belt isn't on.

The dealer must have used a later seat pad base and not included the sensor mat.

Wasn't that only on the passenger seat though Paul? I didn't think the drivers seat had a seat occupancy detection. I'm guessing the reasoning being that if the car is moving it must have a driver. (Faulty handbrakes aside that is! )

    That sounds a possibility.
