    Default 2.2 direct - trouble starting/running

    Hi,

    I have 2.2 direct (04)

Over past few months, car occationally would not idle correctly and stall, but a restart would always cure it and be fine.
However today it will not run correctly. When starting the rev's are only about 500rpm, if the throttle is pressed the car stalls. If the throttle is pressed VERY slowly the revs can be built up, but when ever go to drive off the revs drop and stalls.

I've checked the air filter, air flow sensor, spark plugs - all those seem to be okay. I've seen on other threads that the fuel pressure reg is a common fault - do these symptoms sound typical of a FPR failure?

Is there a way I can test the FPR or anything that I can do to service it?

    (car has just passed 100k)

    Cheers,

Also the exact symptoms of a duff EGR on the YH. Have you had the codes read?

Not had codes read - but there is no engine light on....

more likely to be EGR than fuel pump/reg then?

Where is it located and is there anything I can do to fix it, clean etc?

It could be anything mate, lets just hope its not the FPR or Pump.
The EGR on the YH is water cooled so will require the system to be drained if you take it off. VX can disable the EGR in the SE and YH so if its that it would be fa cheaper than a pump. First off I would get the TB off and get it cleaned like Colin mentioned, if that does the trick then all sorted for the price of a can of carb cleaner. If its still playing up then getting the codes read is the next step. I believe the code is P1405(62) for a dicky EGR. HTH

I've also just noticed that the long black plastic bar just below the intake (I presume this is the trottle linkage) the silver thin metal rod that fits through the right hand side of the bar was out of the location hole and so when the bar moved the rod wasn't - if that makes sense!

I thought I'd found the prob, but put the rod back through the bar and was just the same. This bar is over to the right when the engine is off, when I try to start it is hard over to the left - is this right?
