Halford brake pads

Bought what I thought was the right set of brake pads from Halfords today but two of the four pads have a metal 'thing' fixed to them on the back. Is this right or have I bought the wrong ones?

The thing is a piece of metal about an inch high with three 'hooks' coming out of it.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, never done the fronts on Vectra before!

They sound like the pads that fit on the piston side the three springs press into the hole in the piston. Doe,s that seem to help any??.

nearly every car I have has uses this sort of thing to attach the pads to the callipers piston

Ok cool thought I'd bought a lemon didn't remember seeing them on Senator or Omega pads - thanks!

Not 100% sure but i thought that the ones with the metal clips are for the rears,but i stand to be corrected.

Have a look at the Mintex on-line catalogue, http://webshop1.tecdoc.net/ows/en/6A...dexFramesetJsp, type in your model etc., and look at the expoded views of the pads. all should become clear .
