thats brilliant. glad i forgot to take mine in now
They've actually quietly redesigned the new spring as well. Its now in its 2nd incarnation.
Mines is going in on friday for the repair/ modification/recall whatever you want to call it
Are Vx/dealers starting with the earlier cars registered from 2002 and working through to the later registrations???? Mine is a 55 reg Facelift...I had the 'mod' done a few months ago but never got a letter from VX only a label instructing the driver how to apply the hand-brake and a diagram showing where to stick it.......no..on the drivers side sunvisor!!!
Got the letter, booked in for time I wanted...no problem took it in done & dusted in 20 mins.
Are all the 'older' new springs already fitted to some cars including mine going to be the subject of another FOC change to the newer spring then??? Are VX going to notify us all again ???
On the subject of this Handbrake Recall, since I had mine done, I now notice a loud "Cracking" sound when I pull up on the lever, not all the time, but ever now and then, also the Plastic Sleave is working loose, so it slides forwards then you can't push the button in to release the handbrake??? So how is this part fitted? I would like to remove this Plastic outer cover, so I can see whats making this awfull cracking noise? I am very reluctant in taking my car back to those bunch of monkeys at VX
I removed the centre consol OK, and can detach the bottom lugs of this cover guard, but it won't come right off because of the outer rubbery plastic sleave on the handbrake lever, which is loose but dosn't seem to come off completly?
Anyone got any dismantalling instruction, so I can investigate further?
So are you saying that this Rubbery grey sleave, is just a push fit over the main handle arm of the handbrake? So whats is supost to hold it firm? Because I noticed now on mine, if I am say doing a hill start, and I am holding the lever up, say to wait for traffic to pass, then I found the rubbery sleave has slid forward, preventing me from pressing the button in to release the brake, So I have to slide it back down so I can press the button in. But lately, since the recall, sometimes it makes one hell of a "cracking sound" as I pull it up? What do you think is causing that? Something to do with the fitting of this new spring?
