Unhappy New rear dics & pads after only 26000 miles!

    High everyone.
Long post, please bear with me & read it all.
I have just had the 2nd service carried out on my 56 plate Vectra 2.0T.
2 years old & not much more than 26k on the clocks.
The rear brakes had neen making the "crrrrrr" sound as if the pads had gone for a few weeks before but, after a quick look (wheels on) the outer pads still had 3-4mm of meat on them.
My local Vx dealer phoned my about an hour after leaving the car with then to say that the rea dics & pads needed replaced.
I jumped in their amazingly fast Cors courtesy car & went to see what was going on.
I asked how it could need new pads & DISCS after only 26k (the front pads have about 6-7mm left on the & it's still on the original rear Contis for God's sake) to be told that they were shot (inner pad gone completly, hence the noise) & needed replaced.
They agreed to let me buy the new pad & disc kit at Trade Club prices (I am a member) but insisted that I must pay the standard fitting charge.
They charged me for fitting even though the brakes were off as part of the service so, in effect I paid twice.
Does anyone think that they wore out far too quickly & is it worth contacting VX about it

I had my second service done 2 weeks ago and I needed all round brake pads but the disks were fine. The rears were urgent and the fronts were coming up so all done. My car is 1.9 CDTI Auto with 27000 on the clock

Same issue with mine, had some uneven ware on the rears and pitted discs as well at about the same mileage. All replaced under warranty.

Girl on reception must have liked my smile

IIrc my discs on the rear were replaced at 58k , the front discs are still the original at 74k which by my reckoning is damn good , in that mileage , ive had brake pads front and rear x1 then rear discs and pads , a DMF gearbox and another DMF , but the front discs outlasted the lot !!!!

Probably because they take more load than the rears, and get cleaned almost every trip...

The rears will build up corrosion much faster as they don't get used as much as the fronts, and in wet weather will be subject to all the sprayback from the fronts...

I think I will contact VX to try & get some money back.
Won't go back to my local dealer as he is well known for being a robbing T**T.
I normally use a Hyundi/Kia dealer who is also a VX warranty approved service agent & has a much better level of customer service.

Aquired 1.8LS at 11,000 miles, now at 44,000 still on same pads and discs all round. Will not require front pads changing utill the spring during the annual brake bleed and underneath check and at present discs are all OK. How long do your front pads last???

The rears do seem to wear faster than the fronts on some Vec's. If they already had them apart and wanted to charge you the full labour you should have booked it in for another day and got your monies worth!

    Wish I had.
I have contacted Vx Customer Services & have been told that pads are under warranty until the cars 1st service & discs are under warranty until 18.5k miles so they can't do anything.
    Worth a try though.
