    Default That "Doh!" moment

Driving home in the Astra last night, I was muttering to myself about how slow diesels are to warm up. Then I spotted the yellow LED on the dash, turned off the air con, and things suddenly warmed up. DOH!

.........And, yes I know, the AC doesn't work below 4 degrees C. It was a toasty 6 degrees driving home last night.

No idea. If it's off, it should stay off.

I blame my big clumsy banana fingers. Or maybe the dog. Most things get blamed on her in our house.

Air con doesn't just cool. It also removes moisture from inside the car and prevents misting up. And if you turn it off all winter, the seals will dry out and you'll knacker it.

Oh, I know that -I'm just used to the Siggy, which has climate control and sorts itself out.
The demisting trick was a great revelation when I had my first air conditioned car. (a '97 Mondeo).
I always try to give the AC a run every now and then through the winter. Don't want to knacker it! It's been so *&^*^!! cold these last fews days, every little helps.

I have always just left my AC (Climate Control) set to both sides the same temp - AUTO, AUTO RECIRC, and just change the temp with my side, either up or down. To clear the screen in the morning just press the right hand side button (with the windscreen on it) - and it clears - then press the AUTO button and just leave it set at 21 or 22 if wife in car.
Is this wrong - should I turn it to ECO for the winter?

Well you can tell the cold weather is with us again cos my heaters are total and utter $h1t and my temp gauge doesn't move.

Gets lovely and toasty if i leave it ticking over for about 45 mins but that's just not good practice or cheap.

Can't wait to use the other half's old L reg Pug 306. You can bake potatoes in the footwell in that thing!

Snowman, you got your ears on?
