    Default Check Your Drain Holes

I got a call from my Father asking for my help as all the front and rear n/s interior was soaking wet, in fact there were puddles in the car.
My first thought was the drain holes around the pollen filter as the water had come out of the floor vents, and sure enough when I lifted the panel water was half way covering the pollen filter.
My Fathers car is an Omega so I wasn't sure where the drain holes were but I found a bung on the inner wing which I prized off and out came a waterfall. I then dried up the rest with cloths and eventually found the drain point at the bottom which was coverd in about 2" of crap. I got everything working again and replaced the Pollen Filter and then striped the interior and vaxed the carpetsand underfelt until dry which took allday.
I know this has dragged on but in Febuary the car was serviced by Arnold Clark and obviously they did not check or replace the filter.

I don't think checking of the drain is a service item ever.

Even if they had changed the cabin filter, do you think they would check the drain anyway - doubtful.

I checked mine the other week and everything was clear

It happenend on my Omega, below the pollen filter there is a rubber bung with a cross cut in it to drain. it gets full of leave debris etc fills with water a floods the passenger footwell.

A stiff stick and skinned knuckles cures it.

Mine got taken to the dealer to sort the problem. But because it did not show up on tech 2 they didn't have a clue.

Can someone tell me where to look exactly for the filter, bung etc as I've got the exact problem in my SRi..

Also does the interior need to come out to dry it out properly?

    Thanks

If you lift the bonnet and on the righthand side just below the windscreen you see a little split in the black pastic trim. "about 2inch split on the right and 1 inch split about 14 inch's to the left of it"
Pull the flap up away from the rubber seal. And inside you see the filter, at the very bottom of the filter you should see the bung hole.
Just make sure any crud is removed.

Not sure if your carpets are wet but it's a lot of work getting them out. I'd just vax it all out and let dry.

The drain point exits into the engine compartment on the bulk head and has a black rubber tapered end directed downwards
