Blacklisted mobile phone

My sister bought a SE C902 phone off ebay and misread the advert (it stated it was new, but wouldnt make/recieve calls despite being unlocked) - it now turns out the phone is blacklisted due to being reported stolen or unpaid bill on it..

What can she do? Is the money lost? Or could it be sold on (legally) for spares or repair?

You could probably sell it for spares, but once it's blacklisted (and the blacklist is international now), you can never use that IMEI number on any network.

I already have done - its just that the advert did say the phone will not make/receive calls despite being unlocked, at the bottom. But the 'condition' of it did say new..

Has she a leg to stand on?

I dont think she could even use these recycle phone companies either, they dont accept barred phones..

Surely if the phone has maybe been stolen then its worth a trip to the cop shop with the phone, tell the vendor you want a refund and thats what you are doing, if you cant get the money back get even !!

good call mate tell the vendor the phone has been stolen and that unless he refunds the cash you will go to the police with the phone accompanied with his name and address

once the phone is shut down by the network company, no one will touch it as it brings 5 year in prison

It might be network locked, i.e will only work on one network, alternatively if it is locked there are phone shops that can unlock it, keep all the evidence that you bought it rather than found it and if it goes wrong on you trying to get it unlocked you won't be deen as the bad guy.

it is illegal to sell a barred fone if you no it is barred and the fact he has said it will not make a call sugests he knows ,a few options , 1 police and frankly not a good idea as u will loose the fone for god nows how long and if yours are like ours will be years before they do any thing if they ever do ,although a good threat to seller may do the trick how ever do not return the fone till you have your money back as if u do he then has your money and the evidence back and proof of posting the fone to you in first place so he just has to deny he got it back ,so your screwed ,but that depends how crooked the man is . option 2 resell it and chance the person you sell to doesnt moan ,again not good , option 3 take a screw driver to it sell the bits a screen is quite valueable to the right person plus u get cameras ariels batterys chargers ect . try recoup as much as u can that way .
