Service Spanner/Oil Can on my dash!

Iv just had me car serviced by a m8 who has saved me a killing, actually only cost me £240 and he changed the drivers side rear wheel bearing and both brake pads as well, so god knows what Vx would have charged me with labour on top! That was two weeks ago now and the other day the service light (spanner and oil can) come up on me dash telling me I got 1000 miles before the next service, how do i turn it off please, its getting on me tits when i start her up and turn her off?!

Try this (courtesy of another helpful soul on here)

"turning off, or resetting the service light is easy...

put the key in the ignition don't turn it yet thou..
press and hold in the reset on the mileage display,
hold down the brake pedal,
now, while doing all the above, turn the key till the ign lights come on, and keep holding them down..

after about 20 seconds the display in the speedo will reset itself, and the service light will disappear till the job needs doing again.."

Don't mention it. Don't thank me thank the person who posted the info in the first place. Just searched on 'INSP' and found it. That's the good thing about being on here, people are only to happy to help others out, and I've had loads of help and info on here and am only too pleased to help.

I can't get my light to go off on my 2007 cdti...

i put the key in the ignition, hold the trip button and brake pedal, and turn the ignition on. I hold for about 30 secs and although the 4 dashes change to 18000, the light doesn't go off... Any ideas?

Can you describe / post up a picture of the light in question.

I thought by 2007 the ECOService-flex intervals were replaced with fixed term servicing and I thought the word "InSP" briefly appearing in the odometer display was to tell you when a service was due instead of a spanner/oilcan light.

It's not the car/spanner light is it?

Im sure mines did this but u just hold the reser button in for ages, there r videoa on YouTube thats how I found out how to do it
