Default CAMBELT, when should it be changed?

Iv got a 54 plate 1.9 CDTi SXi 150 with 62,700 on the clock and recently had it serviced by a m8 who saved me a fortune, he said nothing about the cambelt being changed so im wondering when should it be done and how much it costs?

Vehicle : Insignia CDTi SRi NAV 160

VX say 100k for your car but mine went at 61k (cam belt tensioner) and took the whole engine out. I think most of us on here would recommend getting it changed at 50k, 60k at worst

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?

Just had mine done with the 60K service.
Went for complete kit plus had the waterpump changed for peace of mind.
Even if you have a full Vx history and they may state that the belt is good for 100K/10 years, if it goes then you get the full bill.
Also getting the job done at your convenience is far better than a random failure which will always happen at the most inconvenient time.

Vx quote around £300, plus £60 for water pump and about £10 for anti-freeze.
Kit is less than £150, water pump about £40
