    Default My elcheapo SRi

Got it Friday, got some pics yesterday. Not great as it was pretty dull, but here they are:

HIDs fitted this afternoon, plus Nightbreaker fullbeams and SilverVision indicator bulbs fitted to the front. Still to get SilverVisions for the rear, should neaten it up a little.

Well it's very smart. How are you finding the change of engine from the Astra?

It's actually not as bad as I was expecting. Considering I'm missing 60hp and 200lb-ft torque, it goes pretty well. The Vec is only 4kg heavier than the Astra, so really it gets up to speed pretty well.

Overtaking needs work though, the Astra could pretty much instantly overtake most things in any gear, the Vec needs lots of revs and that old slingshot technique.

After a few hundred miles in the Vec, the fuel computer is saying 38mpg average, which is only 6mpg less than the Astra did. At 10p a litre less for petrol compared to diesel, I think it should prove reasonably economical too.
