confused Does anyone have a 'How to' for 2.0dti Fuel Filter Change ?

    Hi All,

I have had a look through the How to section but could not see anything on changing a Fuel filter for a 2.0 dti (52 plate) does anyone have it or know where I can get hold of a guide ?, it's just the bleeding of the new filter that I'm concerned about !,

    Many thanks,

    ant

Bleeding of the new filter is fairly straight forward, once you have undo the long screw in the middle of the housing gently lift the cap off and move it over to the side gently, very slowly remove the old filter and to let as much diesel drain from it as you can to avoid spillage. Fit new filter slowly and top the housing up with fresh diesel from a fuel can or such. Some people (ie me) use this oppurtunity to top it up with diesel cleaner or injector cleaner. Replace the 2 'O' rings, one on the long screw and one on the housing itself. Refit the lid and then very carefully poor some diesel through the screw hole until it comes out, replace the screw and torque/nip it up. Then you should be good to fire it up with miminal/no coughing or spluttering.

As Plasma said, but if you wanna really do it, pull the housing out or undo the drain to let all fluids out, and put the filter in and top up with new derv, allowing for the filter to absorb the new juice, one thing to really be on the ball with is the screw thred, do not let fluid into this or you will have a hydraulic lock, this will make the filter leak as the screw will not be tightened down enough,, should you spill some into the thread use a small cloth thread to absorb it, you must refill the filter housing though or you will cause an airlock.
