    Default Which Oil?

Well I'm going to swap the crankshaft oil seal so to make life easier I'm going to drop the oil and give the car some TLC and service while I'm there. But I'm unsure what oil I need as there are so many standards of oil these days and the manual lists quite a few grades. I do mainly motorway milage so I'm going to be servicing it a 20K intervals so what grade oil do I require for a 2.2Dti?
Also does anybody have a reasonably priced oil they recommend?

5w/30 fully synth for the 20k service intervals. The 10w/40 is only good for 10k. Its a fairly good price from VX too
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Vehicle : Vauxhall Astra-J

    Engine : 2.0 CDTi

Vauxhall recommend 5w/30 fully synth in all Vectra-C's.
10w/40 semi is only recommended for the Vectra-B models.

Semi-syn will be knackered after 10k as the guys say.

I used to use Halford's 5W40 VW PD oil in my DTi (it's the VW spec stuff so it's well up to the job). Cheaper than the brand-name oils and easily as good.

thats whats in mine at the moment as its the same spec that Renualt give when using the 3.0V6 CDTi. Although I doubt it will be in there for more than 12k
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Thanks for the replies.
I'm collecting my oil seals tomorrow so I'll ask the stealer for a price.
It takes nearly 7 litres which means it can be an expensive oil change.
