Finally got round to buying 3 new drives for the little server for the house. 3 Samsung 750GB units to go together in RAID5 to give 1.5TB of storage for myself and the two other guys I share the house with.
So, ordered off Scan the other night, and they were delivered today. If I'd have been home I wouldn't have accepted the delivery, because 3 drives were packed together in an alltogether too small package in a Citylink bag.
Opened the package and there's the 3 drives bundled together with 2 layers of bubblewrap round them. "This'll be good" I think to myself.
So, put the drives in to my little server, plug them in to my RAID card, fire it up. Immediately one of the drives starts making schreeching noises, and within 10 mins all 3 drives are totally knackered.
So, well done Scan. You've ruined £150 worth of drives by putting them in 2 sheets of bubblewrap and expect them to survive a plane trip to N. Ireland. Muppets. They'd probably have had more protection from a couple of Tesco bags wrapped round them.
