Default SRi 150 Cdti Clutch/Flywheel Going Gone..

    Hi all,

Just had the Timing belt kit changed on the Vectra, (64K 55 Reg Facelift) old one wasn't that bad, didn't change the water pump, everything thing looks ok on that side..

NOW!!! The clutch is bad, you can hear it rattling and it struggles to pull on the motorway yesterday, when you set off in 1st it makes all sorts of squeaks and noises.

Took it to VX Wakefield when the millage was 52K and dealers did say clutch is slipping bad, but it's not covered under warranty, i asked him to get in touch with VX Head quarters, but no avail.

Anyone can help if it should have been done under warranty? or have any of you had yours replaced under warranty? its got 64K now and it is expensive to buy never mind fitting costs.

Help me...!!! what can i do???

Depends if its the clutch that has worn out - would not be covered - or the DMF that has failed - may be covered.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I had my flywheel, master cylinder replaced at Evans Halshaw Wakefield last week. Facelift with a couple of months left of warranty 40k, all similar sounding to yours. Done under warranty, otherwise I was told it would have been quite costly.

Well just spoken to VX Headquarters and was told that case has been logged and that the car needs to go in to VX Wakey for them to remove gearbox and check it out, if the fault is present then they will pay, otherwise i will end up paying for it

So advice, should i book it in and get it checked and PRAY that it gets done under warranty?

or just buy a clutch and fly wheel replace it?

What are the chances of VX paying for this, or finding a fault?

I would ask to speak to the service manager and stress nicely that if the work is under warranty then EH can do it, otherwise you will take it away for repair, It's their call and at the end of the day they either make cash under the VX warranty or a little from you for diagnostics. It does sound like the DMF. Just as a side note EH wfd are poor to say the least in my opinion.

well i rang the dealers and got the price for a clutch kit, flywheel and slave cylinder, which is comes to £800 inc VAT.

Manage to contact another place called Auto Vaux, who buy the original parts direct from suppliers and total quoate was £543 inc VAT

so am thinking that i might just buy it and get it installed rather than argue with the dealers and them turning round and saying its not going to be covered under warranty.. what you think?

They will have to take the box out to fit a new clutch anyway so why not just let them do it? maybe tell them if it needs doing and isn't covered you will supply the parts?

    Update 04/11/08 :

Car went into VX dealers yesterday and they have confirmed the flywheel was looooooose! They are just doing the various checks and measurement which are going to be reported to VX headquarters.

    Fingers crossed.
