    Default gearbox bearings

as my 1st post will say hello to you all so HELLO
ive just got a 2l 16v ls vectra, with bout 89000 miles cheap.... the fella i got it off said before i started it up they was a bearing problem that will need replacing int he next 3 -6months or so..
started it up, and the engine seems normal but they was a small noise when in netruel, once in gear or with the clutch down it goes away, it doesnt affect the car at all.. but he did say it will need changing.
any idears in the stoke/crewe area that i can get it sorted? also will it need a full gearbox and any ideas what will the cost be??
like i say the car is sound, only bit of rust i can see is near the boot lock, other than that it seems sound..

Hi and wellcome to the site..not at all wishing to scaremonger but a rattle or whine coming from gearbox in neutral usually means the lay shafts are on there way out,so could mean a gearbox swap.

It could still be the release bearing try putting some pressure pressure on the clutch pedal and see if it goes. If it does it sounds like the release bearing.
