    Default Car park damage

Some nice person has opened there door into my passanger side whilst my car was in a carpark. At least it's only the colour coded strip and not the door itself. Anyone know how much these cost and do you have to get them sprayed? Also can you fit them yourself?

Worst bit is it was in a school car park and I know who was parked next to me all day.....

    57 Signum by the way.

    Thanks

    Andy

That sort of thing is my worst fear when parking up, though in my case I can use the disabled bays most of the time which are wider.

I have a small chip in my strip on the drivers side but not bad enough to warrant any work other than a little touching up which I did.

As it would be very easy to mask off and would be easy to spray yourself I would be inclined to go that direction. If you know who did it why not confront them, certainly worth a try, you never know they may offer to pay to have it repaired properly.

I would love to confront them, but as a customer who spends around 15k a year on consultancy time alone, I think a repair out of my own pocket is probably the best way to go!

I can sympathize with you as my new car arrived for 1/9/08 with the rear o/s bump strip chipped by the nice transport driver.

Anyways the delivery company were billed £104 to purchase new strip, paint with Star Silver3 and fit to car. This was carried out, as it was new, car at main dealer. They removed and refitted while i waited. They heat the strip with a hot air gun to soffen glue then prize off with a plastic spatular and brute force.

You could have go at replacing yourself i suppose.

Sounds like chips away or similar might be worth a go!

Fully understand.. I would guess in the region of £150 at VX dealer.
They do need spraying as all the outside color coded trips and panels are only supplied in primer, trims are generally supplied in plain black.

Certainly as you say... chips away woud be worth investigating, and would be much cheaper than VX.

Do what most of us do and that is to take up 2 bays when you park.

Failing that, a good trick is to put a child seat in the front or rear and park in the parent and toddler spaces!

No respect for others peoples property these days so stuff em!

******* hate parking in public carpark....most of the time i find the emptiest part no matter how far away and park their...the fiance' goes mad cause she has to walk further....then you come out for some random to park right next to you cause they thoought was a good idea...

I have a couple on my strips but with the sheet weather looming i wil have it painted next year when my other bits are ordered...
