    Default Copied CD's skip

I have copied some of my music cds for playing in the car.
It is not playing them properly and wonder what I am doing wrong. It seems to skip and jerk at times. I have the standard multi cd in the elite.

I have used CDR's, used media player to copy them and they play fine on my pc

    Can anybody help?

    TIA

Could just be the car CD player doesn't like that brand of CD-R. Try another make if you can. I used some really cheap CD-R's initially for my car copies (as I didn't want to use my more expensive branded ones) and it did the same. Then I used my branded ones and they work fine.

burning speeds aren't really a problem with cd's... it's the dye that makes them difficult to read. car cd players do not have as good a laser as home players so they are a bit fussy on the media.
if you hold your cheap cd's up to the the light and look at the dye (the blue bit on the back) then you will see that they are very translucent.
the more expensive cd's the better quality dye (darker blue colour) which makes it easier for the laser eye in the cd player to read them, as they are not as translucent.
if you want a quality copy then start using quality media...
    i.e. verbatim

Can only re=iterate above really. In my Vec B GSi the multi changer just would not play copied cds, skips and jumps like your symptoms. I tried different media and different burn speeds and had success with Verbatim and a write speed of 2x. Takes longer to burn a disc but worth it in the end. HTH

As Phatty also said, burn speed will not make a difference to the quality of the copy, it's the quality of the media. I've burnt at 24x/32x onto Verbatim and no problems at all with playing on mine (Also standard CCR2006 in an Elite).

I have had problems with burn speed, but then I don`t think they would play on the PC either. I burn mine at 16x as any faster and I get problems, down to how fast your PC is and what is running in the background as sometimes it will interupt the burning and may make the track skip. As said above try to go up a quality in cd`s, generally the ones which are silver on both sides aren`t so good as the laser goes right through them.

Thanks for the info chaps. Saved me lots of time and aggro.

I have tried burning them at 2X speed but its still doing it, although it does not seem as to do it as much though.

Must be the cheap CDR's I bought then
They are Imation which I thought were ok. Annoying thing is that I bought 100.

Anybody want to buy any CDR's

Oh well, off to PC World to get some decent ones.
