    Default Possible New Vectra

    Hi,

Local dealer has 57 (08) SRI for £7995. Am strongly thinking about replacing wifes current Focus 1.8 TDCI Sport on a 06 plate for the extra room.

Her 1st thoughts are the interior is a little bland. What specs best for a nicer dashboard and doorcards.

Also is the ride firm in a SRI? Would a design or life be better?

    Regards

    Barry

I paid £8200 for my 57-plate 1.8 SRi a few weeks ago. Was tradein, could have got it cheaper just paying cash.

SRi suspension is ideal - I test drove a Design and to say it was wobbly would be an understatement, though admittedly I've been used to the sport suspension in Astras for a few years which are very firm. The SRi is marginally softer than the sport suspension on an Astra, but still holds firm. The rear on the Vectra is a little livelier that I'm used to, though I think that may be due to the standard dampers. Front is fine (fitted with Sachs dampers standard). I'm guessing the Design would be ideal if the car is doing the shopping and school run all the time.

Life is the real pauper spec. Design should have auto wipers and lights (they're a good idea) and half leather seats. If the suspension on the Design is a bit wobbly for your tastes, then it's easy to swap in the SRi springs.

That is a crazy price. I can't believe it is still there for that sort of money.
What is the mileage. It must have been to the moon and back.
