    Default Advice desperately needed!

I won't bore you with the long story, suffice to say that for the last 2 months since buying the car I've had nothing but problems with the dealer.

The car is an 04 Signum 2.2 Direct and the dealer we bought it from only gives a one month warranty as standard (Arnold Clark).

On the day we bought it as I drove home I realised I was getting steering wheel wobble/vibration at around 70mph. I thought it would be the balancing however, after the wheels were balanced by the dealer there was no improvement. Something else I had asked them to look at prior to us picking up the car was that the exhaust back boxes looked badly corroded. They said they had inspected them and it was only superficial corrosion. After 6 weeks the silencer is leaking and he refuses to have it fixed.

An independant garage have advised me of play in the steering rack which is very likely the cause. They also did a laser 4 wheel allignment for me which hasn't helped.

To cut a very long story short, after the dealers second attempt at wheel balancing there is still absolutely no difference in the vibration. My questions are:

Should they have a duty to fix both these problems ie look to replacing/fixing the steering rack and the exhaust? It's causing a lot of upset to Mrs S1nglef1sh as I've stupidly told her how much the steering column would be..... The car has done less that 1000 miles since we bought it too.

Already threatened him with Trading Standards, however, when confronted with the info about the steering rack, he advised me that it was 'a characteristic of the car'!! What a load of s**t!

Spoke to Vauxhall directly who advised he was talking rubbish.

All cars have a 3 month warranty as they need to be fit for purpose. The CAB or Trading standards will be able to advise on that. If VX have said the bloke is talking rubbish then get VX and Arnold Clark to have a chat with each other. What have VX customer care said about it all?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I haven't asked for their advice. Should I call them for a discussion? I know a steering rack is expensive which is why I want AS to fix it. Do you know the best number to call?

Is this even for dealers who only give one months warranty?

It's actually 6 months,no matter what they put on the receipt.Have a look at the trading standards website it explains it there.
