Default Need a small Automatic for the Wife. Fiesta or Corsa ?

I'm thinking about treating the wife to a small car, something like a small Fiesta or Corsa (size wise) It does need to be a automatic, as late as possible but have seen a few advertised with 06 plates around 5K.

Any members had any experience of those models.... anything to watch out for?

BTW she came out of hospital this afternoon.... yippee.

The Fez still uses that horrible CVT auto from the 80's. Makes your car sound like one of those little scooters.

Go with a Corsa 1.4 Auto. AVOID the 1.2 Easytronic, it's really, really bad. The 1.4 uses a normal auto, and is pretty good.

don't know the fiesta, but my local garage has a 2005 corsa 1.2 twinport courtesy car, and it's a nobby little car that's a hoot to drive and doesn't use much fuel. although it isn't an auto, my vote would go to one of those.

It has to be a automatic.

May have a pop over and have a look at this one. Might even knock a little off for notes, always worth a try.

I shall heed your advice, a few other have said the same, only reason I was tempted was I prefered the look of the Fiesta over the Corsa.
    1.4 Corsa it is then.

My mother had an '03 Reg Fiesta with the Ford clutchless manual gearbox rather than a 'proper' automatic - don't touch it! It is neither good as a manual or as an auto - I suspect the 'Easytronic' Corsa will be just as bad. I thought the Fiesta itself was an excellent car totally spoiled by this lousy gearbox.

If you want an automatic, stick with the conventional fluid flywheel types.

All my cars since 1995 have been automatics.

I recently hired a 1.4 Corsa Auto (think it was a 56 plate) for a week or so. I was impressed with the automatic gearbox (and i'm fussy!). Smooth changes, and also very nippy. I think Enterprise still have them as rentals. Might be an idea to rent one for a day/weeked to try it out.

Not sure about long-term reliability - dont know if they use the A-W Jap sourced gearboxes for the smaller engines (maybe someone else will know).

I agree with the comment about avoiding the CVT types - although the one in the Honda Jazz is pretty good (as is the car).
