Just fitted eight downlighters and painted bathroom and hall. All done on Thursday and Friday night. Only took around a year to fit and finish the bathroom. Will try and post a few pics.

how easy are downlighters to fit ? presume you need access above the ceiling...& do the bulbs last ? always fancied some ankle-level lights for the stairs..

Downlighters are easy to fit if you can get access for the wiring or the joists go the right way. I did my kitchen and bathroom this year...makes a big difference. I have never tried stair lighting, I would think you need to extend the downstairs lighting ring but not sure how easy that would be. I will try putting some downlighters in the soffits one day.
