    confused Headlight adjustment...

Hi guys, hadnt driven my car in the dark until last night and at the moment all I can see is 5-10 metres of the floor! So a couple of questions...

1- How long and how much should it cost to get my headlights aligned?

2- What kind of place should I take it to? (A general garage? Halfords etc...?)

    Thanks alot...

Or find someone with the same car and suspension height (just to be sure...) who's just had his MoT, put his lights on against your garage door, and mark where they are at the highest setting. Then simply park yours up and set them up to his markings - and bingo, free adjustment!

There are two screws on top of the units. One is for lateral movement of the beam and the other raises or lowers it.

The left or nearside generally shines a bit higher so as to light up the kerb line more but you should be able to get the height right "ish" by doing it at night somewhere dark

The lateral beam will deffo have to be done at a test station and my local one didn't even want anything to do it so I bunged him a fiver for some biccies

Oops... Didnt mean it to sound like that! I just meant, he's always been the first one with an answer to my woes, especially with my Facelift conversion!

    But on another note...

Just took it to "In n Out" in Northampton to have the lights done. Easy job they said and would cost £5 (money for the brew fund). So off they go...

10 or so minutes later they park my car out the front and hand over the keys... I looked at the car and it just didnt look right. Then I realised why! (Wish I had a camera with me!) The bonnet, on the passenger side was raised by about an inch! So I pop the bonnet, had a good look. Closed it again, but still it wouldnt close! So off I go, a little p1ssed as I've only had the conversion for 2 weeks or so, and ask the manager to have a look...

"Oh dear" he says, "pop the bonnet" So popped the bonnet, he see's no problems either. So we close it. Still the inch or so raised gap!

So popped the bonnet again, this time I leaned right into the engine bay and "smash" something heavy and plastic hits the floor...

It turns out the mechanic left his b!oody tape measure in the engine bay! What a reta&d! Even the manager had no idea why he would need that!

But I shouldnt of gone there in the first place! When the partner had her KA she had it MOT'd there whilst I was away. As soon as I drove it, I could feel the drive was terrible and the lights where both full of mosture!

So I had a quick look. They hadnt bothered putting the headlamp backing plates on after replacing the bulbs. Then I noticed that they hadnt put the b!oody front shock bushes back on the right way so the arms had play in them. FFS! I thought, but it had been something like 4 weeks or so since the MOT had been done, so we couldnt prove it was them being kn0bs so just took it to another garage and had it sorted.

    Anyway, rant over!

PS - I'd like to say I dont reccommend "In N Out" on the Kettering Road, Northampton.
