    I notice a few people here have high pings over relatively short distances, something you might want to get to the bottom of if you're into gaming online.

    As AntB says these figures are in kilobits per second, so the download rate when doing an FTP, bit torrent or HTTP download is usually stated in kilobytes. E.g. divide your data rate by 8. so 4096kb/s (4mb/s) becomes 512 kilobytes per second which can easily be reached when downloading.

    Don't get me started with Tiscrapi

    I've just got out of my 12 mth contract 4 mths early as they could not provide a service that would give me anywhere near 8Mb. Normal days it was around 0.2Mbps Customer service was diabolical

    Now with TalkTalk and getting a nice reliable 6.3Mbps Not too bad from a line Tiscrapi said would only support 2Mbps
