Default 3 button key problems (vx tech needed)

    Why me??

    Right,
Bought a horseshoe with transponder attached and a blank blade.
Bought a spare key fob and changed them over. Got the key cut this morning and off I went to the stealers for a session on Tech 2 to get the new key programmed.
After an hour I enquired as to what was happening??

Was told that they couldn't program the key because it had an "in-active transponder"?? WTF is that?
Have ended up paying £51.03 for a flip key and another session on Tech 2 @ £23.50 to get it sorted out.

If anyone can help, I can get this "rouge" key sorted and put away as a spare, spare.

    Cheers guys/girls

    Martin

If its a 2nd hand key you bought the transponder would have been coded to another vehicle. You cannot reprogram transponders from one car to another (the little black chip inside the key which tells the immobilser to turn off).

The keyfob itself can be reprogrammed without a problem. You need to purchase a blank transponder NOT been programmed.

Thats correct, there are a couple of different type of keys dependant on what car it is. Megamoss was used a lot on the Vec B, on my 3 button old style Vec C key fob there isnt any visible name . On the back of it i have 3 sets of numbers CTX8435, 507837, 12230083. Hope these may be of some use to you
