Fords don't offend me I'm open minded and have had a lot of Fords in the past... Nowt wrong with FORDS m8... The Ford word may offend single minded people though who live and breathe VX and think everything else is sh!te...
Fords ST range is great, and like most Fords they are far more tuner friendly than most VX's with more companies doing tuning accessories..

My wife had a Focus ST170 and while the handling was good the engine was rough and comfort was poor and in the 3 years of ownership the alloys had 2 refurbs because of corrosion, and Ford and the dealers are a bunch of !"£$%^&. Got rid for a Corsa D 1.3 CDTI 5dr and it is far better made and alot more comfortable

Well I know it's comparing apples with oranges because you are asking about the performance end of both model ranges and I am only going to give my view based on lesser models but here goes.

I have a 2003 Signum 2.2 petrol Design. It was bought to replace a 2002 Mondeo 2.0 diesel Ghia X estate which had got a bit miley at 148k. I still have both because I can't bring myself to sell the Mondy to be honest.

The Signum is a very very nice car. Pleasant to drive, well equipped etc etc. But it is frankly not a patch on my old Mondeo. Different league of car, especially when it comes to handling and comfort. I have already, in a short three months / 10k miles with the Signum had a number of niggling faults and examples of poor build quality. The Mondeo despite its miles ( most of them in my hands ) has so far needed a lightbulb other than normal servicing.

I shal keep the Signum for a while to get some value out of it but it may well be the first to go.

Apologies to all you VX fans but its just not cutting it for me versus the blue oval......

In my opinion, don't go for either go JAP!! although I like my Veccy and most of my cars have been VX and thinking about it I've had all the models since 1977 (chevette upwards), but have to say I think I'm gonna replace mine in a year or two (if it lasts that long!!) with either Honda/ Toyota or Mazda, as most people I know that have these never seem to have any problems (makes me sick) there I've said it , I have 'BLASPHEMED' and apologies to anyone I've offended!!
    Cheers Pete
