Default Welcome Back Vectra- Bye Bye Mondeo

The Vectra is back after having a new front bumper fitted and the coolant leak fixed.

I'm obviously glad to have the Vec back, but must quietly admit that both myself and Mrs John C S have enjoyed having the Mondeo for the past week.

The strong points of the Mondeo over the Vectra are IMO:

    1. Sharper Driving response and handling.( Although the design and build are in reality 6 years newer than the Vec C)
    2. Nicer driving position and seats. ( A lot more comfy on medium to long journeys)
    3. Slightly better shaped boot. Not necessarily bigger to the eye, but a little more height.

The weak points are (apart the fact it is a Ford),

    1. Poor carpet fit in the footwells where carpet meets with the bulkhead. (Rear passengers notice and god bless Ford, they put a light in the footwell to highlight it!!

    2. Stange engine note on the 2.0 DuratecHE engine. Press on and it sounds like a bison mating!! It's got a nice feel to it though!!

    3. Errr,,,,,,,,,it's a Ford!!!!

Remarkably few weak points. The sharpness of driving and handling does remind me of our old Focus. Something that my wife has always missed with the Vectra.

I've enjoyed having the Mondeo for the week, particularly as it's coincided with my holiday and have had a good chance to put it through it's paces.

Mrs John C S will be sad to give it back,, as for me.... glad that the vectra is back on the drive

The Vectra does look nicer on the drive IMO.
