    Run that past me again?

So they're removing the cameras, but still maintaining them? And they still flash drivers, so the drivers will still have to pay a fine?

Maybe it's just too early for me.....

Yep too early for you!. Swindon have removed them as its their duty to maintain them but do not get any revenue back form them. All the money raised from the fines goes to the government. Is that better ???

lets hope other councils follow suit....i'm all for camera's in know blackspots, but just to use them to 'trap' motorists is wrong...less effort should be placed on speed detection and more on ANPR and general traffic work... speed camera's just detect one law's violation, an ANPR team or a traffic officer detects far more...so, less officers in van in hedgerows please.... and more out on the roads ..

mind you, as it doesn't prop up the economy they prob never do it..

Policemen with camera's hiding in hedges..... seen a better one yesterday, big white van, 2 big cams hanging out the back of a van , 30 yards from a roundabout, and he was sitting in a petrol station in Farnborough

So he was either waiting on someone flying round the round about or over it, or counting the amount of people slowing down to enter the petrol station

If it's got two cameras it'll be an ANPR van.

Like most Traffic Officers, I'm totally opposed to the abuse of speed cameras. When they were put up in my local area, nobody ever consulted us (the ones who attend the fatal accidents) to see where they were best suited. They were put up in the town centre (lots of cars doing 36mph), where there never were any serious accidents.

Also just seen a typical 'unbiased' BBC report where the mother of a boy killed by a speeding car was featured. How predictable.

I find they cause ppl who don't realise until the last momment to anchor on and not consider the ppl behind, and there's also the catch up scenario as well where ppl feel delayed as they slow from say 37mph to 29mph then cross the lines and zoom up to 50mph to make up for technical lost time that doesn't really exist.

Heard that on the radio this morning, totally unbiased - my 4rse. Total bollox.

She claimed that if anyone was killed by a speeding motorists, it would be the council fault. How stupid, and pathetic. Clearly it would be the drivers fault if the excessive speed was entirely to blame for the death.

It really pee's me off when people comment who have been directly affected by something - they CANNOT give a logical and rational response as there is far too much personal loss and emotion involved.
