    Default Exhaust Options

Im interesting in getting an aftermarket exhaust for the VXR to liberate some additional V6 growl

Now, if i'd have posted this over at VXRon-line, the TMS fanboy club would have been recommending me get the miltek system and blathering on about warranty etc.. But its £800 !

It seems awfully expensive, especially given that blueflame can knock me one up for under £500.

But the problem here lies with my knowledge. Im not so sure if im believing marketting BS here, or being told the truth, but the miltek is the only system developed for the VXR

The other exhausts around (like the blueflame) seem to have been developed for different engines. The blueflame was developed on rb-redbull's 2.0T Edition 100

Does the fact it was developed on a 2.0T engine mean its going to pose a problem for me ? ive got a couple of concerns 1) given the standard exhaust of the VXR and 2.0T are different, could i end up with a worse system than standard with the blueflame system and 2) even if it is ok, would the miltek not be better due to being "developed for the VXR"

They would have only used the 2.0T for the shape and angles the zorst will need to take. They would not have done Rolling road teats to tune torque and bhp characteristics. This is where the Miltek system will come in, it will be tuned for sound and performance and not just for fit.

theres no remus exhaust for the Vectra VXR that i can find.

I think VXRPC fit the miltek for the vectra.

that i can live with, but what worries me is given that its got the 2.0T turbo in mind, its not going to be worse than the standard VXR exhaust is it ?

why not get in touch with blue flame and mij and see what they can offer you mate, iirc the vxr jobbie is a huge thing, but i am sure they could make something up for you that will release the extra you want, MIJ did a turbo back system for spoon's on his old car and it produced a good extra lump of torque

You would have to look at the sizes of the bore's. If the pipes are the same size then all you would have to alter is where they join the cat as id imagine the Cat will be different.

they said the would offer me the system that was developed on the 2.0 Turbo engine, but with a modified downpipe

my query was really whether that was going to work, owing to the VXR probably having a better standard exhaust than the 2.0T

Im guessing blueflame made their exhaust to the same spec as the 2.0T standard one, but enhanced for better noise

and thats my concern - i could end up with an exhuast unsuitable for my car as its not really been designed for it

or am i sucker for marketing BS ?

The remus is fitted as standard on the VXR.

To liberate some noise try removing the center box this could be done for around £60 im thinking of doing this next as £800 for a new system is shocking
