confused Signum - Water In Spare Wheel Well

    Hi

Does anyone have this problem.. My 54 Signum gathers water to the extent that it fills the spare wheel well located in the boot. I know I have a slight crack in one of the rear light clusters but i cant beleieve that amount of water seeps through that gap to end up in the spare wheel. Plus it only seems to happen if the car has been washed either with a normal hosepipe or jet wash, makes no difference as the same amount of water ends up in the wheel well.

I think it can only be one of two things..either the rear light cluster has a be fiddle dwith previously and the seal is crap or condensation..I only say the latter as when i lift up the floor compartment to access the spare wheel, the actual wheel itself and the surrounding floorplan is covered in condensation droplets.. can anyone help?

Isn't it the pressure difference that draws water through the rear lights? Change the rear light is my advice especially if it is cracked.

    PS Near Leatherhead here.

it will more than likely be the poor seal given by an ageing foam gasket..... they are cheap from VX..

not really, as it needs to be removeable to change any blown bulbs.....unlike vectra to access the bulb holder you have you remove the entire lamp unit, much the same as corsa B (2000 on ) ...

Had that problem on a saloon Chevette. Drilled a hole in the wheel well, lets the water out. Problem solved.

I did similar in a BMW boot side pocket but didn't want to admit to doing that.
