How to tell if a 2.2 is the Direct engine or not

Is there an easy way to tell if a 2.2 engine is the Direct engine or the older type, ignoring whether or not it has a 'Direct' badge on the boot because that might not be accurate. I.e. does it have Direct written across the top of the engine or similar?

the direct has a pump mounted on the right hand side of the rocker cover and the z22se dont .....

should have twin exhausts although i think some of the older directs didnt have this , what reg is it ?

Think 54 plates became the Direct.

its 2003 so its probably going to be not direct then. Also i didnt notice twin exhausts. cheers for promt replies

Still a good strong lump mate, with the added bonus that the high pressure pump isn't there to fail.

Pogos 53 plate siggy is a direct.

Most obvious clue in my opinion would be the twin exhausts. My first veccy was a direct life, and although the exhausts were under the bumper, it still had 2 lol

Siggy Directs came out on 53 plates but the Vec had to wait until '04 models.
