Default New door pins, fitting help

I just bought some new door pins, have got the old ones off, and the new ones on, but i tighten the allen key up all the way and it just isnt even close to gripping the threaded rod...

    Any ideas?

Btw, its the cheapo ones, with the two bits of rubber a the top.

    cheers

sounds like the little grub screw is not going through enough it may be on the wrong thread but if they are all like that i would have used some mastik as long as you dont need to get them back off

On the cheaper ones when the grub screw hole is drilled and tapped it leaves a small burr on the inside and it stops the bar going all the way inside.

Easiest way is to get an allen key the same diameter as the hole and push it in to the door pin as far as it will go and twist it until it will not go any further. It should just remove the burr and allow the pin to sit lower and you can then tighten the grub screw on to the bar.

I have a set of these 'cheapo' ones and they went on fine

Are you tightening the upper or the lower allen key? I used the lower one and it was right down bythe edge of the door card so was a real git to get at.

You may also have to trim the bottom off the rear ones to allow them to go down enough to be level with the front ones as the locking bar has a bend in it just inside the door card and this stops the pins from going all the way on.

Catermans advice on clearing and burrs should make sure the holes are clear but to state this obvious make sure you undo the grub sceww before you put the allen key into the main hole
