i have got my hands on a very good 2.2dti engine and was wondering would changing to the bigger 2.2dti turbo give my 2.o dti more bhp and is there any draw backs to swapping them over

It'll be about an extra 20/30 bhp mate, no idea about the ins and out though,
...
2.2DTi uses a totally different turbo, it's a varible vane unit compared to the bog standard type of the 2.0. While you could probably fit the 2.2's turbo, you'd probably have to get some sort of reprogramming on the ECU to cope, if it's at all possible.
If you've got the whole 2.2DTi lump, why not fire that in? It's got to be easier that starting to fart about swapping turbos.
ive got the whole block we bought it today to get feul pump off it some scrap yard give us whole engine seems like theres only 20k on by the looks of the engine internals etc i presume my fuel pump would be compatible with the 2.2dti as thats the only part we used from new engine how much bhpwould i get from just replacing turbo and could a diagnostic machine sort out the reprogramming
Hmm...doubt a diagnostic would do it, you'd probably need to give someone like Dave Wishart a ring and see if he could help - he does some fancy remapping with hybrid turbos etc.
Not sure if the pump will be the same - they're probably physically the same, but you'd probably need to check the ident number etc.
I don't think it's a 2 hour job to get that thing going...
zs could i have the number of that guy if possible as i was thinking of getting the 2.0 remappedd and then if it goes bang throw in the 2.2 lol
anyone else shed any light on the subject
First dibbs on ya 2.0 lump lol
the way things r going you could have the 2.2 lol
I take it that its not easy to swap then ?
