    Default Vectra CDTI Advice.

    Hi.

I have seen a 04 Vectra SRI CDTI [150]. Its done 99k with full Vauxhall History and its just had the DMF and pressure plate done aswell, The car is from a garage and its up for £4100 ONO.

What do you guys think?, I know Dervs can go much longer than petrols, But is it to much. I do about 8k per year.

    Thanks
    Luke

If you're doing 8k a year, you're mad buying that car. Has the inlet manafold been done? Same with the EGR?

Get a younger 1.8, you'll get similar MPG, it'll be cheaper to insure.

I'm doing 20k a year and it's going to be cheaper to run a 1.8 Vectra than it was the 1.9CDTi Astra I had before.

Am not sure what else has been done.

Does the inlet manafolds often fail?, Can you take the EGR out on this cars?. My mates PD engine you can.

Whats most the common things to fail on this cars?.

I do some towing with a tailer and my two race bikes, So want something with some power, Plus after a remap there gonna be quicker than the 1.8.

The manafold almost always fails, and you're looking £500 at least to get it changed. EGR can't be blanked or removed unless you like lumpy running and the EML lit all the time. The EGR clog up quite easily if you're doing low or city mileage.

If you want power, then the 2.0T is your best bet for reliable low milage.

What about the 2.2 models?. Seen a nice 03 SRI 2.2 with full leather, 80k for £3500.

What sort of mileage do the 2.2 models do.

    Thanks

2.2 is a bit thirsty, the 2.2Direct is the better engine, it gets about 1mpg worse than the 1.8VVT. 2.2 is about 150hp, 2.2Direct is 155hp I think.

2.2Direct has a 6 speed box in the facelift, though they're probably a little dear for what you're looking to pay.

To be honest, it sounds a relatively good buy, with a bit of haggling you'll be able to get yourself a bargain mate.

With the DMF done, thats the most expensive thing done, and you'll have a 50/50 chance of anything else failing (like any other car on the planet) so if straight enough, then why not..?

i have just bought a 04 1.9cdti for £3995,i paid an extra £215 for a years warranty and mine has 107k miles on it,is a design estate and has factory fit 18" wheels so i also get sri suspension as well, the dmf is a rework and it is recommended to take a drive for about 15 minutes and keep the revs above 2000 for the dpf to regenerate, also a good excuse for a good thrashing once in a while lol,i dont do a lot of miles but having a diesel still saves me money over a petrol, and a 1.8 will not pull like a 1.9 diesel
here is the car i bought

I have seen a few cars about. Another was a 04 1.9 CDTI SRI with 108k on the clock for £4200, But am sure i could knock him down some with cash only. Its comes with 6month AA parts and labour warrenty. The car does look in very good condition as its just been used for motorsways.

A Derv is what am after TBH, As i like the low down power and fuel when traveling.

Any other things i should look and listen out for on this cars?.

    Luke
