    Default Anybody know cav's

    1993 L VAUXHALL Cavalier 2.0i CD
    This one is an Auto with 65k on the clock.
    I've joined up to the Cav site but i'm not activated yet.
    Just want some info maybe you had one or know a thing or 2 about them.
    I've heard to keep clear of the ecotec engine i beleive this is not one. Can you confirm.

    i love cavaliers
    had 4 of them
    2x 1.8 ls (never had any bother with em)
    2x 1.6 L.

    cv boots were a bit of a continuous thing.
    abs never worked on any of them?
    rust on the rear arches is a killer

    Personally tho, i wouldnt have an auto, just me

    but all in all great cars, very easy to do work on yourself!
    (and if i can do it anyone can!)

    satin red is cracking when you give it a good polish

    cheers for bringing back sum gid ol memories!

    I had same model only in hatch and couple uears older , no real issues in 7 years with it ,
    fuel relay .. easy fix
    cam belt burst .... easy fix and didn,t damage any valves wen it happened
    that was it , oh and a pain in the ar5e leaky sunroof
    .

    From memory, if it is the 16v engine then it will be an ecotec if 8v then it isn't.

    i also had a 1.6L cav on a 91 H plate in red, had it for 7 yrs and never coaused me any problems, i also had it facelifted after i had a crash in it never known of any problems on the ecotec

    Two things Glen, 1st one is the cold start unit blocks up a lot, simple fix, WD40 or and Carb cleaner fill it up and shake it then drain it, and the autoboxes ime only last 70k on average.

    cambelt failures can happen on any car

    Yep but the early vauxhall 16v engines suffered more than most. The problem was still there with the early vectra b's

    Seeing as it's the facelifted Cav then it probably is the Ecotec.

    Ok, so they were'nt as good as the Red-Top but still, the Cav is still the best Vauxhall i have ever owned, they are awesome.

    Easy way to tell. Open the bonnet and look at the engine. If it says Ecotec on it then............
