If it's a SRI what do you think of it.

mines averaging 38.9 and its an 06 SRi Navi Estate. Its just going into the red now and has done 403 miles, should get about 450 before its empty, although I've had 500 on a motorway run.Its very nice for what I want it to do (lug prams and kids around in and get to work), got everything I want in it (except climate) and looks good in saphire black with the chrome and tinted windows (although the wife has nicknamed it the hearse).
My mate's just bought a 57 plate SRI hatch - its a nice car and the engine is very smooth compared to my 05 plate 1.8, for general driving I don't think you need anything else power-wise (I'm prepared for the replies for that quote...).
I don't know what he gets to the gallon, I'll ask him next time I see him.
39.2mpg according to the computer - only had the car 4 days, average across half a tank. Computer recons 520 miles from a tank of petrol. I'll know better when I refill the tank later on in the week using the manual calculation.
I'm very happy with mine, after suffering a Astra Sporthatch 1.9CDTi for nearly a year, the Vectra is like driving a Rolls-Royce. Though my Sporthatch was a Design, which had auto wipers and lights which I sort of miss.
No regrets buying the VVT SRi at all. Especially considering the price I paid - £8200 for a 6 month old car that size can't be bad.
520 miles to the tank.... I've got a 04 1.8 and get about 380 to the tank, doesn't matter how i drive it or if its around town or motorway.....
Computer thinks that, dunno if I'll acheive it or not, though I've done about 110 miles and it's just about to hit the 3/4 mark on the fuel guage.
The VVT is much more economical that the older 1.8, too.
Around town with the engine barely getting up to temp i get approx 25-28 mpg(which is whats quoted in the manual,so for once the official figures are about right)
Did just over a 30 mile trip from where i live just by Gatwick, up to Heathrow.
Set the cruise at 62mph and well, i think the figures speak for themselves.
Needless to say i was mighty impressed.
Mine is an 06 SRi with 34k on the clock.
Snowman, you got your ears on?
After owning mine for two years with mostly driving 5 miles to work and bacj each day I get 33MPG over the last 2500 miles. Not too bad. If you're doing longer runs I think about 38MPG is about right. I don't drive hard either. I'm pleased for a petrol.
The engine is OK, I had a 1.8t Audi a3 and that was quicker but as I've now got a family I plod around and it suits me. It didn't seem to make financial sense at the time of buying to go for the diesel as I only do MAX 8K a year.
mid thirties from mine on daily running, went to france fully loaded and on a neck to neck comparison got 40mpg.I think its the kind of engine that awards a gentle driving style and punishes you if you give it a hard time
