    Default New Mazda6 MPS

I've just seen an advert for this car, and I'm pretty impressed with it. What do you guys & gals think? -

    Mazda6 2.3 MZR DISI Turbo 4WD

    260PS & 380Nm
    0-62 - 6.6 secs
    Top Speed - 149mph

    Urban - 20.0 mpg
    Extra Urban - 35.3mpg
    Combined - 27.7mpg

    Price - £23,950

I initially thought from the model name that it was a diesel, but apparently it's a petrol. Obviously the mpg figures confirm this.

Definately a contender for the VXR in my opinion. I really think GM need to get going with development of a 4WD gearbox to give their cars the edge.

    Discuss?

Nice motor. has the edge with being 4 wheel drive.

Had a look at a Vectra VXR this morning in the showroom at Vantage Bury, I wasn't impressed at £25K.

Vauxhall should of made 4x4 for all the VXR range IMO. Thats why they will never be a serious contender at the moment.

    FWD does have limits.

But the Calibra 4x4 gearbox and transfer boxes were a nightmare.

Mazda is mainly FWD that biases to the rear as needed. Like the quattro system.

Only problem with the Mazda is it's too understated.

True, but thats a plus to many people inc me. I don't want an attention seeking bells and whistle rip-snorting Scooby/Evo sat there begging to be nicked or damaged or d**k heads trying it on at every traffic light.

I did all that in my youth and it got me nowhere !!!

don't think what it looks like makes much difference, the type that nick cars know what to look for and if they want it its gone and possibly because there might not be many of these around it makes it even more nickable.

There's always the HSV four wheel drive version of the Monaro:
