Default £80 extra insurance for spoiler

Has any one else had a ridiculous quote from their insurance for a rear spoiler for their vectra. I am insured with Natwest and have just rang them to inform them I am fitting a rear spoiler and he has just told me that it will put my insurance up by £80 . It also put my excess up from £150 to £350 . This just doesn't seem quite right to me . I told them that I am fitting tinted windows and larger alloys but that is fine and no change to the premium .

Direct-line tried telling me that my renewal was £150 more this year because I had an Irmscher grill, although 2 years ago when I fitted it they said there would be no change to my premium!

Confused.com and Quidco and saved myself £290!

Probably best, as they could try to use it as an excuse not to pay out in the event of a claim.
