    Default Jack: A Soldier's Story.

Watched the second half of this the other night and it really shows what the infantry boys are getting into over in Afghan. Worth a watch:thumbs:

I watched it when it was posted on another forum. It's a good insight into what goes on on the ground.

I've just finished reading Apache by Ed. Macey. He was a pilot out in Afganistan and his obvious admiration for the soldiers he was trying to protect and work with is clear. He and his colleagues did some mad things to rescue a guy MIA and that programme is a pointer as to why.

"Ed Macey" author of Apache was in my Squadron and we were on the same tour out in Afghanistan when our Apache went in to collect the unfortunate Marine.

There is a load of brave actions going on out there. It annoys me when people like Wayne Rooney are referred to as Heroes, it is such a miss use of the word and status.

It's an amazing story and I agree about the heroes thing (obviously).

I was quite touched by a post that appeared on my teams Speedway website earlier this year.

There were two second world war veterans talking about the fortunes of the team. A guy who now lives in America said that if they were in a room along with the team captain. (world champion two years ago and second in the world for the last two years) he's ask for their autographs and not his.

To quote him, "Jason would understand. He knows the difference between a sportsman and a hero....."
