Default removal of scratch - help!!

    Hello all,

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere...

Spent a good few hours cleaning the GSI yesterday... all looking good... until today... went out for a meal last night... and this morning, a nice 10 inch long scratch along the bootlid...

As the saying goes it would have been worth (whoever it was) them doing it, just so that i could catch them doing it...

Anyway, what's my best plan of attack? It doesn't seem mega deep... but apart from polish i haven't messed about much with this kind of thing... i don't want to get stuck in and screw things up...

So any suggestions would be much appreciated... it may well have had something dragged along it and left a mark... doesn't necassarily look like it's been keyed...

    Cheers,

    Ian B

if it's not too deep then some meg's scratch-x might do the trick, a pic might help more

i think it may well just be a surface mark - when you run your fingernail across it, you don't feel an obvious indentation...

i'll try and get a photo of it tomorrow... or may just give it a go... just don't want to screw things up...!!!

    thanks guys,

Always tell if it is a deep scratch you will be able to run your fingernail in and you will feel a indentation - that will never come out-Bodyshop

However if its a surface scratch then you have a good chance of removing it. Try 'Scratch X' as ditchp recommended,if not then maybe a bit or machine polishing or wetsanding?? I know that sounds scary but you will have a better chance removing the scratch by doing this and then polishing it back in. The first thing to do is scratch x it mate
