    Default rear suspension

How do you know when its mullered ??? mine now feels like a 20 year old shogun on cart spring suspension , it doesnt make any odd noises and the tyre wear is pretty normal , but the back end feels detached .

tempted to throw it at the dealer and get SRI stuff shoved on ,

looks a mess but pulls like a train still

?Are you still running with the OE rear shockers..if so then it's allmost certain they are the culprits..even if they are not showing obvious signs of wear..leaks etc.

That says it all then bud..the oem ones are garbage..as per justification from lots of members on here, who have changed to mostly billstein b4s including myself..as i had the same probs as you, with rear end bounce and step out,and my old ones had only been on the car for 20 thou apparently..if i were you for the sake of £80,i'd start with them..but then again if your selling soon then why bother.

Vauxhall shocks are rubbish, plain and simple. I've never got more than 50k out of a set. Either replaced with Bilsteins (EuroCarParts are your friend for those), or some sort of suspension kit. Last car had a Bilstein B12 kit, but it was a little lumpy for my liking unless you were doing about 90.

If you plan on keeping the car a long time, then Koni FSD are some job.

    Hi mate!

My left rear spring was snapped and the shock had about 10mm (yes 1cm!) of movement in it when I replaced them last week!!

Tbh, I had suspected for ages, it was just a case of funds as to when I would replace!

There was this one dropped manhole that was on a bend near where I live, and the rear end would skip and twitch going round the bend whilst simultaneously trying to deal with the dropped manhole.

If you find something similar, you can bet your rear shocks have had it!

    hth!

    Nick :-)

I have an 04 Vectra C, 3.2 GSI auto its done 43,000 and like MCDAD probs with rear end bounce and step. The shocks are originals. Surely its too early to change the rear shocks. ls it worth changing front and rear the anti roll bushes as well?
