emissions light just come on 2007 1.9 sri cdti 150bhp model

Hi all any info please the emissions light has just come on ?
My car is a sri cdti 2007 seems a bit new for stuff like this to be going wrong is it safe to run until I get it booked in to vx only do a few miles a day any info please just to put my mind at rest it’s a bit cold now to get the bike out lol

It sounds like your regen filter is blocked due to doing only a few miles a day.The engine has to get to full temperature and then the regeneration process will take place,burning the soot particles and expelling them out of the exhaust.It usually happens on the motorway.If yours hasn't been doing the regen then the filter will be blocked and it will have to go to the dealers.Hence the emissions light.After it has been fixed then you need to run the car for longer periods preferably on the motorway.If you still only do small mileages then i'd surgest a petrol model which doesn't have this feature.

Hi thanks for that I do around 5 gallon of diesel a week mainly at the week ends but this is the 1st time its ever come on wear is the regen filter ?
I did around 600 miles the other weekend and every thing was fine I will try book it in to vx asp will this be covered by the warranty?
