    Default Mystery cover

Guys, on the 2.2 (non-direct) there is an oval shaped cover on engine block/ head passengers side just to the left of the EGR valve held on by 2 x bolts, any ideas what's behind this as I appear to have a slight oil leak at the bottom of this, hope this makes sense!
    Cheers Pete

i think its just a blanking plate
have you tryed to remove it as their might be a rubber ring that has perished, or it just might need some high temp silicone

very easy, this is where the power steering pump would go if the car had normal power steering,on the vectra c and astra g both have electro hydraulic power steering so dont need an engine driven pump, and as vauxhall/opel changed the exhaust camshaft it means you cannot fit a vectra c 2.2 engine into a vectra b without work
shunter can you please answer me this, why would an engine have a space for a distrubiter when it was designed with modern electronics? the dizzy died before this engine was developed lol

Yep the Vec b, astra cam has a little fitment to run the pump, square hole I think? You'll notice the fuel rails are different also, so are the intakes as there are different vac's needed.
