    Default last Vauxhall this one

I,ve had vaxhaulls for the last 30+ years. Just had my first MOT on my 55plate Vec C and a front spring was found to be broken. warranty finished 29/9/08. Guess what!!!! I have to pay for it all. I have been away sailing for the last three months thats why it wasn't done before the warranty ran out. The spring is corroded at the break so it certainly broke within the warranty period. I did however have the last servicing done by an independent which from what I can see is the reason they will not do it under warranty. What in the servicing will effect the life of a front spring is beyond me. The car has only done 14700 miles as well and if anything has been over serviced. Once I decide to replace this one, which will not be too long now, there is no way I'll have a Vaxhaull again as a matter of principle. Mind you seeing as I,m a old man of 69 they probably took that into consideration and feel I will not be buying many more cars anyway

By the way is a broken spring a common thing?

Seems to be, search the forum. My old man has it on his 54 prefacelift last year. Also very low mileage under 20K. My 07 facelift is on 26K and so far OK in that respect.

    Awww...*sob*

You think Vauxhall are bad for warranty, you should try Skoda. They're a ****ing joke. Ford? How's about 8 months to replace dodgy brakes? Peugoet took 25 trips to the dealer to finally fix my 106's idling issues. Yes, 25.

Broken springs are common on the Astra, so I can't see why they wouldn't be on the Vectra. Perfect excuse for a set of Eibachs.

    Bit harsh isn't it...

Not everybody is prepared to roll over and accept bad service like you seem to.. Imagine if the boot was on the other foot, and your car had less that 15k on the clock and needed what should be warranty work doing 2 weeks after the warranty ended...

30+ years of obviously good service, then "oops" 1 thing goes wrong, and he throws the toys out.

Kia have a 7 year warranty, he could try that...

Have to admit though... that with less than 15k on the clock, its not good, and would not be too happy myself in the same position. Is this problem with springs affecting certain models or are all affected.
I cannot remember ever needing a spring replacement on any vehicle in 45yrs of driving. I've obviously been lucky in avoiding the potholes.
Certainly sounds like VX need to change spring manufacturer.
