    Default Playing with a Prelude

I work with a guy who used to have a Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec etc etc and is a member of the Prelude owners club.

He's just turned to me and told me that some bloke on the owners club forums has posted that he was behind a Vectra C a couple of days back and was giving it all he had but the C just pulled away.

So, i go on telling him the specs of the CDTi's etc for my colleague to turn around a few minutes later and tell me that this bloke has described my car

So, it seems that I've unintentionally whooped a 2.2 vtec Prelude - i know this is not really that much of an achievement considering the age of the preludes etc, but i've been driving the Vec like a grandad since i've had it!

I've told my colleague to tell his mate that if he wants a second chance to look even worse against an oil burner (when i'm trying this time) then he can have one

as i said, the Prelude was never going to keep up but bare in mind, these Hondas are almost 200bhp standard!

my main point was the fact i hadn't even been trying, i've driven the Vec slowly everywhere really.

The 2.2 VTEC Preludes were a pretty nippy car, but you have to rev 'em to get them going. We used to have one on our fleet and it went like stink (and sounded fantastic) over 6K revs, when the VTEC cam cut in. It had Beggar all mid-range, though, so if he was in the wrong gear you'd trounce him easily. Either that, or it was an auto box model -they have a reputation for breaking auto boxes. Or his weird 4 wheel steering had gone mad! Strangest car to reverse into a space that I've ever driven. Weird!

    Good result

Them 2.2 Preludes are no slouch. Just looking here.

BHP is 197 and 0-60 in 6.9. Being a VTEC though its got beggar all torque. Should be able to trounce it up the hills.

On a different note, my mate with a Rover 800 Vitesse 2.0T 200BHP thing keeps saying how it would trounce mine. Do you think I'd stand a chance?
(Mind you I've virtually keeped up with 3.2's before now )

Exactly. Lacking in torque, as is the Honda Type R and the Toyota Celica.
