    Default Rear heating window question..

    Hi,

Right, I bought my 08 car (ex demo with 5000miles) and last night I discovered that one of the heating wires in the rear window isnt working.. Not really a massive problem, just irritating.

On closer inspected it became clear that one of the wires is damaged, hence it not working.. This was not done by me as I have only lifted the boot about 4 times and never used it for any big items, let alone touch/mess about with the window.

Question is, have I a leg to stand on in getting it changed? Am I right in thinking the only soultion is a new rear window?

    Thanks

I've had it about 2 months and i've done 3000miles in it..

Not sure if the elements (or whatever they're called) can be repaired... no idea!

I had the rear screen changed on my Astra a few months ago under warranty - it's just under 3 years old with nearly 40k on the clock. Just mentioned it when it was in getting serviced, and then brought it back a few days later to have the screen put in.

You used to be able to get a silver 'paint' that came with a very fine brush that you applied to 'bridge' the gap. Not sure if you can still get it now though.

You can get it off ebay, I got some in case they wouldn't fix under warranty. It's called "conductive paint".

I got some of this to repair a break in one stripe on the rear window of my 1.9 SRi estate. Halfords stock it.

I haven't done the repair yet but it should by straightforward.
