Is there actually any benefits remapping a non turbo enngine? Have you fitted a custom exhaust, intake manifold or something similar?

I dont see any point in remapping if you haven't changed the exhaust, fuel system or touched inside the engine by changing cams etc.

Here in finland people have successfully removed the pre-cat and EGR valve on Z22SE engines (previous to Direct). Removing the pre-cat gives better rev response, and removing the EGR boosts the effect. This *can* possibly also result in burning your actual cat to bits.

I also read about Lexmaul exhaust manifolds and bigger "throttlebox" (I dont know proper word for it) and thus getting 175bhp out of it.

I am not an expert, just something I read.

If youre referring to the cone-shaped air-filters with Viper, I am pretty sure there is no advantage to this. In fact, a cone-filter lessened the power of Signum 2.0turbo in dyno compared to the original panelfilter.
